Good book but my wife already knew most of the tips in this book from doing research online
It is quite helpful with oral allergies and hits everything on the nose. I would recommend it to any who has food allergies and is gluten free and soy free and red meat free. It also have great recipes to use and pretty much outlines everything for you.I found it very helpful with insight to food allergies.
What a blessing this book is!!! My daughter just got diagnosed with OAS and I was completely lost. I did a search on amazon and this book came up. I almost didn't get it since I wasn't overly interested in recipes, but this book is so much more, there is helpful information about OAS! I highly recommend this wonderful book!!
Similar to a previous reviewer's mention-I have OAS and no problems with gluten(though uncooked flour I do). I am allergic to all raw fruits and vegetables. Lemon juice and a few other fresh ingrediants are used in a few of the recipes which was very disappointing. Meat I also have no issue with... This book was very informative about OAS(though outside a few problematic recipes) and it gave me some good ideas to mix up my own creations!
I assume this would be a cookbook that had recipes that excluded foods that people suffering from oral allergy syndrome needed to avoid. Instead it's full of recipes with apples and pears and things that I am allergic to and shouldn't eat but the book says just peel them in boiling you'll be OK
Gave as a gift. It really was the only one out there at the time & she appears to really like it. Started pulling out recipes & went shopping for new ingredients.. We'll see how it goes & I'll update later.
I'm not gluten intolerant or a vegetarian, but I do tend to bloat and get stomach aches if I have too much gluten or dairy, so I really love this recipe book for (a) the comprehensive info it has on OAS, and (b) the recipes, of course. I'm going to incorporate LeBlanc's recipes into the cooking I do for my family - they taste good, are generally easy to make, and are easy on the digestive system. It's got me thinking about food differently.And for Amy Crown and anyone else who is annoyed at the so-called limitations of this cookbook - it does say in the title that is gluten-free and meat-free (something explained on page 19). No book can cover the restrictions and desires of every person, so it's a bit ridiculous to criticize it for that. This cookbook does exactly what its title describes.
This is not the cookbook I was hoping for. My daughter has OAS, but she tolerates gluten with no problem. There are loads of GF recipes in this book (and all are vegetarian; not sure what meat has to do with OAS), but I was hoping for the solution to our family's problem: my daughter can't eat fresh fruits and vegetables. Period. No finishing recipes with fresh lemon juice. No stir-fried peppers (stir-frying wouldn't cook them to the degree she needs). This is basically a gluten-free cookbook with an introduction that's all about OAS. I'm so disappointed ... and I still don't know how to cook for my kid!
