A good lesson for all of us; one never knows when one might suddenly become a fish out of water.

Having grown up in England I loved reading this book! I especially like reading it out loud as I did recently when my husband was in hospital for 10 weeks. I tried to keep my voice down but the other men in his hospital room begged me to read louder so that they all could hear the story!! I read to them every morning. :)

Fun fictional story of Queen Elizabeth as a young grandmother in reduced circumstances. The characterizations of the royal family were spot-on!

An interesting parable about the royal family--and how adversity affects each member. The Queen seemed just right to me, some others not so much. But fun all the same.

I usually enjoy Sue Townsend but unfortunately this story didn't "tick" the usual boxes for me. I think that its a "tongue in cheek" version that is meant to leave you thinking of the possibilities and that the world would be a better place if we treated each other with some respect as equals. I battled to get into the story and perhaps that because I wasn't prepared to "suspend my disbelief" that the situation could actually ever happen. So, not the best read for me but one may enjoy it if they are interested in how the royals would manage should they be abdicated from the thrown.

Very clever & witty! I wonder how royalty would really survive if they had to live like the rest of us?
