It is a slim, but by no means simple work, and this thin volume won't so much make it easier as give you a broad overview, and thus better bearing coming into the book, and a refresher if you haven't read it since before the turn of the century. This guide adds somewhat to the source text in explaining a 2015 paper by Stephen Hawking altering at least some of what is in Brief History and a rather interesting discussion on time travel between black holes from a Michael Moyer article "The Physics of Time Travel".The main points analysed, both from Brief History and related works are:The Big BangThe expansion of the universeGeneral RelativityQuantum PhysicsThe search for a Theory of EverythingTime's arrowsBlack holesTime travelThe list of cited references can also serve as an excellent guide to further reading.I received a copy in exchange for an honest review

Curious as to how the universe works OR at least how the author Stephen Hawking perceives it after his study of many years on the subject? Did you know that Stephen Hawking held the same chair at Cambridge University that Sir Isaac Newton once held?! Important to note that many things written in this book are based on two major theories but the entire book is based on the "fact" that the "universe began with an explosion known as the big bang" and that it was four hundred million years after the big bang when "clumps of gas collapsed to produce the first stars and galaxies". . In this Instaread summary (think DETAILED review) the reader is presented with 8 Key Takeaways. Here are a couple to whet your appetite:>> #5 - "Scientists are searching for a unified theory on how the universe works">> #8 - "The general theory of relativity, which says gravity curves space-time, makes time travel theoretically possible. Mankind has been studying the universe—both the macro universe of the galaxies and stars and the micro universe of subatomic particles—since ancient times, and it is still a mystery. Stephen Hawking, one of the greatest minds of the 20th and 21st centuries, in his book A Brief History of Time attempts to shed some light on the nature of both universes. While the book is written in plain language, what seems to come through is there remain more questions than answers. But, Hawking at least points the way to further research into efforts to develop a unified theory, or an explanation of ‘everything.’Even though it’s in nontechnical language, this is a book that’s likely to appeal mostly to those interested in science, which is a shame, because what Hawking has to say is important. If you don’t read the book itself, I would at least suggest reading A Brief History of Time: by Stephen Hawking/Key Takeaways, Analysis & Review by Instaread. This handy little book, that can be read in 15 minutes, will give you the essence of Hawking’s book, and it just might entice you to dive into the full work.

this very brief synopsis seems to capture the high ponts of the good doctor's tome,i can only assume that it does, having not read the entire original work.
