I read through the first couple chapters of the Wife book by this Author, and it was right on the money. So I figured I should get this and use it for prayer for my wife. 16 years and I was clueless about what she really needed prayer for, but not any more.
powerful, biblically inspired. Will bring you closer to the Lord, regardless of where you are with your wife. If you're both doing well, this book will make you stronger. Helpful if you're separated too- very encouraging, powerful and thoughtful. The bottom line is prayer and this will help guide you there and better understand your wife, how to love her and how to pray for her. May God encourage and bring peace to any man who is seeking this and going through heartache right now. Keep your focus on the Lord and don't give focus and glory to the circumstance you're in. I know how hard this can be! This book is helpful in that regard, along with daily bible study and prayer.

Years ago I first read Stormies book for praying husbands. It was powerfully enlightening. Since then I have always had a copy of those prayers in my library (now on Kindle this past decade or so) and use them regularly to help me pray for my wife. She has caught me doing so and always expresses profound appreciation and surprise at how perfectly appropriate they are for her! I am deeply indebted to Ms. Omartian for her help in this most important area of my life and marriage.
All of her books are extremely helpful and give you the direction you need. The Power of a Praying Wife is just the same. The book is laid out in topics. Each topic has a page or two written by the author for better understanding. This is followed by a prayer specifically about the topic. Then she lists Bible verses about the topic. I LOVE these books. It really helps you specifically for a subject. I tend to wander all over the place! The Power of a Praying Wife saved my marriage. I would pick a subject or two that I felt was important at that time and read the prayer out loud. It was so powerful. She explains in the first chapter how this works.
I am quite good a reading my Bible and getting a lot out of it, however, I have always been a pedestrian "prayer" at best. I just don't always know exactly what or how to pray for certain things and find that when I pray silently I really tend to lose focus and drift into thinking about what I am praying about or just flat out going off to Never-Never Land. I find that in lieu of always being able to pray out loud (which tends to keep me focused) reading these prayers and customizing them a bit here and there has been an invaluable tool.Some may protest, "Shouldn't prayers always come from within your own heart, mind, and spirit?" Well, as the author points out, don't we sing songs and hymns all the time that someone else has written? Yet they quite often are very successful in engaging our own heart, mind, and spirit into communication and communion with God. Also, this book was put together based on what wives themselves told the author they most wanted their husbands praying for them. No man ever knows the heart of a woman as well as other women do so I, for one am quite grateful for the helping hand and use these tremendous chapters and prayers to help me pray better for my "one and only."
There's a lot of confusion on Amazon about these 'Power of a Praying...' books because their covers look similar. Stormie made THREE books for each spouse: 1) the book itself; 2) a study guide for individuals or small groups; 3) a booklet full of prayers to pray for each day. This book is the prayer booklet for husbands. There is also one for the wives.People are writing reviews for the main book here when really this is the page for the prayer booklet. Both are awesome but it causes confusion for those who are ordering the books.At any rate, this is an indispensable tool for praying for your wife daily. If used every day, you will cycle through it approximately every two months. It's small and easy to use and take on travel. Each prayer is based on scriptural principles and covers a specific area of your wife's life.
Purchased this as a gift for my husband last year and it's wonderful and incredibly insightful!We both have the wife and husband version and truly enjoy it! We enjoy that it touches on so many different aspects and struggled and honestly things we don't even always think about so it's a great reminder of the things we aught to be praying for, for each other
